    Thanks for posting! I hope to make contact.

    I grew up near The Big Lake they call Gitche Gumee. The story of The Fitz is as well known to me as any well known American History event.

    I still get goose bumps whenever I hear the song by Gordon Lightfoot;

    “….and later that night when his lights went outta sight, Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald..”

    Hello everyone, thank you for the interest. We hope to put on a good special event. We are going to shake out the bugs for next year the 50th anniversary of the tragedy. Please be aware that W0JH from Stillwater, Minnesota and W8F from Livonia, MI will also be putting on special events at this time. So it looks like others from around the US share in our desire to honor the sailors who paid the ultimate price, and promote the museum and amateur radio.

    Thank you and see you on the air soon.

    A QSO with you will help keep us warm up on the big lake.

    We are getting ready to head up the to big lake. I am happy to report that I worked W0JH and got into their logbook. They were 20 over 9 here on 14.272 this weekend. I hope we can do this well from our location up in Paradise.

    On a side note, I didn't realize Paraside is only a 4 1/2 hour drive to the north.

    73 all and I hope to get you into the log. Certificates are available for this event. Details are posted at http://www.w8lrk.org

    Thanks to N8F (Randy) on 20M this morning for working very hard to make a QSO with me. Unfortunately propogation wasn’t in our favor. Great try though! I’ll give it another go this weekend!

    Thank you to everyone who made contact with us. On Behalf of all of the special event operators I would like to say thank you. We had a lot of support from family and friends. The weather was great and we made a lot of contacts.

    It was nice to operate in a low noise setting with lots of stations trying to work us. I was running the ICOM IC705 with a Mercury 3 amplifier. I was dimming the lights in the cabin with CW. It was a good feeling.

    73 all and see you next year for the 50th anniversary.

    A special thanks to all the ops who took time to tell us their memories of the ship. It really has a special place in peoples hearts.
