I got my first license wa back in 1964 when you had to have a piddling 5 wpm to get your license. I still, 54 years later, enjoy listening and using morse code. Usually you will find me at the just above 7025 kHz listening to cw on either an older Ten Tec Omni D or a Radioshack DX-394 receiver using a tuned loop for 40 as the antenna.
But because I live in an apartment, the landlord will not consent to letting me have an outside antenna. So, the loop is in the window of the apartment room where the shack is on the outside of the window where it works pretty well. I may not be able to transmit with this setup but I can still listen and enjoy listening to CW sent by other hams.
Oh BTW, back then we had to pay a fee to get the paperwork and the license sent to us by USPS.
