    The ham world lost a great operator David N5SRC, 17 May 2020, I knew David very well. We worked the MS 150 in Houston as net control many times and both of us were in Navy Marine Corps MARS He will be missed by many. 73 David

    David Michael Heard
    September 28, 1953 - May 17, 2020

    David Michael Heard, 66, of Kingwood, TX passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at the Kingwood Medical Center from complications of ALS.

    David was born in St. Louis, MO on September 28, 1953 the son of Hannon Heard and Wanda (Dyer) Spiegel both of whom preceded him in death.

    He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was united in marriage on April 1, 1983 in Houston, TX to Diane Doss.
    David worked as a Mechanical Designer for J.I Case, John Deere, Phillips Petroleum, and Gillman Engineering where he developed the Automated Assembly line for the Saturn Automobile; lastly, he worked for National Oilwell Varco.

    He enjoyed Amateur radio, call sign N5SRC, and helped with emergency communication in the Kingwood and Harris County area, spending time traveling in his RV, BBQing and loved going to the beach and tubing the Guadalupe River.

    David is survived by his wife, Diane Heard, and their 2 sons, Arjay Heard of Shepherd, TX and JayDe Heard of Whidbey Island, WA; daughter, Pamela Newman; 3 brothers, Steve Heard of Jefferson City, MO, Rick Heard of LeClaire, IA and Jeff Heard of Fort Dodge, KS; 2 grandsons, Michael and David Heard and 2 granddaughters, Michkayla Heard and Cadance Newman.

    Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 12 Noon-1PM with funeral service at 1PM at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home in California, MO, followed by a graveside service with full Military honors.
    Memorial donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America c/o the funeral home.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
