VOA Museum plans children’s STEM event as part of MidPointe Library System series
Event is third in the “The Voice of Truth in America” series

Children of all ages are invited to attend a “Ride the Radio Waves” STEM event on Wednesday, June 5 at MidPointe Library Liberty from 1 to 3 p.m.

The MidPointe Library Liberty branch is located on the second floor of Liberty Center shopping mall near Dillard’s in Liberty Township.

The free event is the third in the four-part, “The Voice of Truth in America: Celebrating 75 Years of the VOA Bethany Station” series with the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting and MidPointe Library System.

West Chester Amateur Radio Association (WCARA) radio station volunteers will share STEM secrets of radio, show radio waves in action and help children make their first radio contacts on an amateur, or shortwave radio, with a licensed amateur radio operator, said Joe Gruber, VOA museum chief technology officer.

“Children will learn the basics of how two-way radios work—the same radios that police, fire and emergency workers use,” said Gruber. “We’ll have additional tables set up with hidden word games, coloring, and an interactive animation for older, or more interested kids.”
