"As a new ham (less than a year), I am glad the restrictions were lightened to give me entry into the hobby without an "Elmer" to guide me. I was given all bands from 50mhz up to explore. I haven't yet gotten out of 2 meters, but when I do, I have a popular DX band in 6 meters to enjoy plus everything above, not to mention modes to use besides FM voice.

I still believe the old fashioned way that only rights are endowed, privileges are earned. Due to my trouble hearing certain pitches, I may never pass the code test. So what!. I've got plenty of spectrum to play in, and if the upper bands don't get used, we lose them. Let the decision to keep or drop the CW requirements be decided by the ham community as a whole rather than satisfy complainers that don't get their way.

You can't have everything you want, just because you want it. Remember it's only in the "Special" Olympics that all the players get a gold medal.
