Humber Fortress DX Amateur Radio Club are pleased to announce that Ofcom have granted a special event call sign to be used through 2017 from various sites in Hull, to celebrate Hull as City of Culture 2017. To those not from the UK, the City of Culture title is granted every 4 years. GB0HCC will activate from the Cottingham Road Baptist Church at 00:01hrs until 08:30hrs UCT on January 1st 2017 on either 40mtr or 80mtr dependant on conditions. Reactivation will happen at about 16:30hrs until 21:30hrs UCT. The NOV for this site is 24hrs, on the 2nd January 2017 the call sign passes to the club house of the Humber Fortress DX Amateur Radio Club at Fort Paul l, who will activate after the New Year break. On the 1st February the NOV will pass to the Hull and District Amateur Radio Society for 28 days. Other dates and clubs activating GB0HCC will be announced later.
