The UK-led D68C Dxpedition to the Comoros is setting a number of new records. In its first 24 hours of operation, D68C made 16,412 contacts, a new Dxpedition first-day world record. The team surpassed the previous Dxpedition QSO total record of 96,000, set by the ZL9CI expedition to Campbell Island, within its first week of operation.

As of 1900UTC on Tuesday the 20th of February, D68C had made over 127,000 contacts and was ‘running’ at a rate of nearly 1000 QSOs per hour. More than 9600 QSOs with UK stations were in the log, including numerous contacts with QRP and mobile stations, many newly-licensed M5 callsigns and at least five 2E0 Novice stations. The group has been operating two stations simultaneously on 10 metres in order to maximise the potential number of contacts during the day, when all the bands below 18MHz are ‘dead’.

D68C is scheduled to be on the air until the 27th or 28th of February.
