When it comes to trumpeting the merits of Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), the Windsor area hams have definitely earned their stripes. This was evident at the 2013 Field Day event that was jointly held by both the Border City Radio Club and the Sun Parlour Retirees Amateur Radio Club on June 22nd & 23rd in Windsor, ON. During this event, several members of these clubs that are active with DMR, set-up a DMR pavilion to showcase this new mode of digital voice communications and to demonstrate the impressive capabilities of amateur radio. This DMR pavilion was located in a dedicated tent and came complete with a display board to present visuals, a working Motorola XPR4550 DMR radio for demonstrations and information handouts.

DMR, which enables hams to communicate with one another locally, regionally and
around the world, has taken ham radio by storm with over 3,000 users and 300 repeaters registered around the globe since 2009. To exmplify the adoption rate of DMR, the Windsor hams launched their VE3UUU DMR repeater in April 2013 and since then, they have helped about 20 users become active with DMR. Keep up the great work guys!!

Have you got a DMR story to share also? If so, contact us and we'll help spread
    the news.

    Cheers!
