    Glenn Haines W5VEI, SK 12/23/03.

Glenn B. Haines was my hero.. He flew a P-47 Fighter plane in the skies over Europe during WWII. He lost a son to the war in the jungles of Viet Nam... And he introduced me to the world of ham radio..

He met his wife, Lena Holman, when they were in jr. high school, and they married shortly after he entered the U.S. Army.. He never referred to her as his wife.. Instead, he always called her "his bride".

I knew Glenn for over 20 years.. I owned an automotive repair facility and he allowed me the honor of repairing his cars when they went on the blink.. Over the years, we became good friends.. During the entire time I knew him, he encouraged me to study and get a ham license.. When I finally got my license and showed it to him, he beamed like a new father...

These final few words are for all who knew him ---

    W5VEI has destinated....
