My $35.00 DYI long wire antenna project that will work on all band, 160m through 6m. Don't forget to subscribe
I'm heating the oil for the popcorn for this one. Should prove to be a doozie! A couple of first blush comments: 124.5 feet is only a longwire starting on 40 meters, and higher frequencies. It's 1/2 wave at 3.760 MHz, and 1/4 wave at 1.880 Mhz. Why anyone would ground the far end of the counterpoise is completely beyond me. I'd sure like to hear the explanation of that idea. Didn't note SWR or BW on all bands claimed.
The usual definition of a "longwire" antenna is one of more than two wavelengths at it's design frequency. Then again a "longwire" isn't the same as a "long wire". Depends on what you are talking about and the 'frame of reference' of the one doing the talking. The name "longwire" dates back to when names of things really had some physical relation to what it was. Now? Let's just call it 'Fred'...
