Fred, appoint ME. I guarantee it will be the end of the
personal attacks, and the attackers' worst nightmare.

 

A Moderator should be a person of good character, those with known serious character flaws should never be considered.

 

Especially when it comes to the Youth Forum

"Worst nightmare?'' Exactly how are you going to implement that? The worst that can be done is banning someone. Assessing points and instituting bannage require a moderator consensus not unilateral action so how can you "guarantee" anything?

JMO, the thread seems to be doing a pretty good job of self moderating... (maybe 'cause everybody's a subscriber ?)

Very true. But to many here, it's the actual words they crave to have left last over the other guy, other than the usual "well, this topic has run it's course"

 

It is one thing to evaluate and judge against the TOS. You want to evaluate and judge based upon subject. That is not moderation.

Editing a post to remove offending text is editing, not moderating. The post should be removed. It's up to the poster to resubmit without the offending text.

You have still not presented one justification for your position on editing texts rather than just responding, as all others must do. When you go after accuracy of a post, you acting as a thread participant, not a moderator. Respond then, not edit.

 

Really? Then who decides what experts are needed? If you're not an expert, you have no business editing.

I've asked and you've never replied: what happens when there is an inaccuracy on a topic in which you the moderator/editor are not an expert, but I am? Why am I limited to replying, yet when it is within your realm, you may edit? How can that dichotomy possibly be justified?

I disagree. Jim is even handed (my opinion). His position on editing surprises me.
