William R. Butler, W6BFA, of Simi Valley, California has passed away of natural causes. Born in 1919, Bill was a pioneer of VLF communications, for use with the submariner fleet, a veteran of WWII, United States Navy, and an avid designer and builder of high gain VHF and UHF antenna arrays. He leaves an son, also a radio amateur and a daughter, grand-kids and many loving friends, this writer fortunate to be among them. May God bless your new and continuing adventure, Bill.

I am very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. W6BFA was a Life Member of the Golden Bear Net and I considered him a good friend for over 40 years. I can still hear his voice checking in with "W6 Butler's-Fuzzy-Audio" (and of course his audio was perfect). I had the pleasure of meeting Bill for the first time at the Golden Bear Net retreat in June 2009 and he kept all of us in stitches with his tales of his U.S. Navy experiences. Among other things, Bill was a world-class deep sea diver while in the Navy.

I speak for all on the Golden Bear Net when I say that he will be deeply missed. RIP my friend and I hope we will meet again someday.
