    MMMonVHF SPECIAL PERSEIDS Newsletter 2009-08-10

Hallo dear MMMonVHF (and specialy MS-) friends,

please find below our "SPECIAL PERSEIDS NEWSLETTER" of the
VHF-DX-Portal "Make More Miles on VHF" (www.MMMonVHF.de).

We will try to inform you about the latest News about
activities, the Perseids Shower itself and about the
MMMonVHF MS Sprint Contest at 12 Aug. 2009 (World Wide!)

    *****************************************************************
    Latest NEWS/INFO for the NEWSLETTER
    MMMonVHF The VHF-DX-Portal
    *****************************************************************

Meteor Scatter - The PERSEID Meteor-Shower and more:

Perseids maximum is predicted by IMO on August 12, between 17.30
and 20 UT with ZHR=100 hr-1. There is the possibility that Perseids
may produce increased rates in 2009 (maybe up to Outburst level),
as well as more than one peak like in recent years. Especially the
encounter with a dust trail ejected by parent comet in year 1610
could lead to significant meteor rates enhancement. For more
details have a look to shower predictions for August 2009 at our
    MS-Propagationpage ( http://www.mmmonvhf.de/ms.php ). We do set a
lot of tips around the shower and as well we did start at 8 th
our ACTIVITY OVERVIEW for the upcoming MS-Shower and CONTEST.

Please do have a look at the ACTIVITY MAP during the Shower:

There are more than 200 european Squares active up to now...

144 MHz: MMMonVHF MS Sprint Contest 12 Aug. 2009 (World Wide!):

The VHF-DX-Portal MMMonVHF in cooperation with the magazines
DUBUS and Funk-Telegramm (by Joachim, DL8HCZ) invited you to
take part in our 144 MHz Meteorscatter Sprint Contest, which
took place for the first time in the 2008 Perseid shower and
will be run year by year now.

MMMonVHF Meteorscatter Sprint Contest Periode 2009:
Date: 12 August 2009 Time period: 00.00hrs till 23.59hrs UT
(End time of the last complete QSO).

All info and Rules you will be able to find at:
    http://www.mmmonvhf.de/ctest.php

One change against the 2008 contest will be the new class called
"Vintage" which we made because of many requests for the "ssb/cw
mode". As well as one of the changes against the past year MS-Sprint
contest is, that we are happy that we did find a partner in ARcomm
( www.hamoffice.de/) who have developed a small and easy to handle
LOG-Program for our MS SPRINT Contest. There will be a german and
english version free of any cost to download. Please download at:
    http://www.mmmonvhf.de/minibb/index.php?action=vthread&forum=10&topic=91
Results will spread later and will include as well CLASS and MODE!

IF THERE ARE QUESTIONS OPEN, PLEASE CONTACT THE CONTEST MANAGER!
