Irish Castles and Stately Homes on the Air

Steve, EI5DD, has become coordinator for Irish Castles and Stately Homes on the Air. Basically this is an award scheme for working or activating Irish Castles and Stately Homes.

The award scheme will be launched on the 1st of January 2009.
A web site has been set up to show a log of activated Castles and Stately Homes.

This scheme should be of great interest to individuals or clubs who enjoy taking gear out on portable expeditions.
We look forward to plenty of activity in the new year.

It is important to note that to be valid, intended activations should be registered with CASHOTA-Ireland a minimum of 10 days prior to the activation.

Full details are on the website

    You Can Not Be Serious!

Could it be that this is a site where amateur radio announcements are posted? Could it be that there may be one or two amateur radio operators in the Republic Of Ireland who may want to particiapte in this event? Could it be that there are a few amateur radio operators that are DX stations where defined by the Republic Of Ireland who may want to attempt working the stations that operate from these beautiful sites?

Maybe I am wrong but I always thought of QRZ as a place where the Amateur Radio operator can learn what is going on and where it is happening.

    Sounds Good!

This sounds good to me. That's what I like about Ham Radio, always something new to work on! Would love to qso some of them and hear about the history. Been a ham for over 30 years and it's this kind of thing that makes me still enjoy it!
