    George L. Fullerton

    Millerton - George Livingston Fullerton, 89, a longtime area resident died peacefully at his home in Fort Pierce, FL, on Sunday, March 22, 2015. Mr. Fullerton was an industrial arts "shop" teacher at Webutuck High School in Amenia, NY for 28 years, retiring in 1985 and also taught industrial arts at Kildonan School in Amenia from 1985 to 1991. He also taught in industrial arts in New Milford, CT for a period of time.

    Born January 14, 1926 in Staten Island, NY, we was the son of the late Esson and Alice (Kennedy) Fullerton. George attended Staten Island Regional High School and New Britian Teachers College in New Britian, CT. George served his country honorably during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was discharged in 1946 from the Army Air Force. On August 24, 1952 at the Millerton Presbyterian Church, he married Eleanor Coons. George and Eleanor were together for over 54 years until her passing in 2006.

    George and Eleanor had lived in Millerton from 1957-1991 and wintered in Florida from 1991 until 2006. George became a full time resident of Fort Pierce in 2009.

    George held an amateur radio licensed and belonged to various radio clubs using the call sign WB2IIV. He was a longtime member and former Deacon of the Millerton Presbyterian Church and enjoyed square dancing with Tri Mountain Squares for many years. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and his many friends and caregivers.

    Survivors include his son, Robert Fullerton and his wife Ruth of Millerton, NY; his daughter, Sally Slachta and her husband John of Belmont,NC; his grandchildren, Dan and Mindy Arnold and Jason and Justin Fullerton; a great grandson, Garrett Arnold; his brother in law, Cleon Sawyer of Hopewell Junction, NY; a sister in law, Cosette Fullerton or Blairsville, GA and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents and wife, George was predeceased by his two brothers, John Fullerton and Garrick Fullerton.

    Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5-8pm at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11am at the Millerton Presbyterian Church, 58 Main Street, Millerton, NY. Rev. Zora Ficarra-Cheatham will officiate. Burial will full military honors will take place at Irondale Cemetery, Route22, Millerton, NY.
