Special Events Station K5B will be in operation on March 22nd, 2015. This operation will be for the 26th Annual Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon event held at the White Sands Missile Range. More information about the event is available at http://www.bataanmarch.com. Last year, K5B worked approximately 391 contacts.

The event honors the victims and survivors of the Bataan Death March that took place in the Philippines during World War II.

K5B will be operating as nearly as possible to 21.337, 14.330, 7.225, and 3.893 megahertz as band conditions permit. Last year, K5B split most of its time between fifteen and twenty meters. Operation will begin when the first runner departs from the starting line and will cease no later than when the last runner crosses the finish line.

A commemorative QSL card for the event will be available by request. Send your completed QSL card confirming your contact with a self addressed stamped envelope [please use a Forever stamp]. A sample of the 2015 K5B card appears above. Please write ‘K5B’ in big letters on the lower, left hand corner of the outer envelope (it helps our treasurer separate the club mail from the Special Events mail when he checks the club's P.O. Box) as follows:

    The K5B mailing address is:

    Special Events Station K5B
    c/o Mesilla Valley Radio Club
    P. O. Box 1443
    Las Cruces, NM 88004-1443

All QSL requests must be received by Sunday, May 3rd, 2015. Please allow four to six weeks from that date to receive the K5B QSL card. The number of QSL cards we will print will be based upon the number of QSL requests received by that time. So please get yours to us as soon after you contact us as possible. Once we run out, there will be no
more K5B QSL cards for 2015.

Information for getting a K5B QSL card is located on the K5B Web page at http://www.n5bl.org/bataan .

Last year, the logging was done on our Web site using the Cloudlog software. The K5B operating log can be viewed in real time as each contact is made. The URL to check the log is http://www.n5bl.org/cloudlog. Search on your call sign and you can verify you are in our log.

The URL for the event is http://www.bataanmarch.com .

K5B will be operated from several different locations in the Las Cruces area. This will allow our members to operate K5B from their home stations and enter the contacts into a master database.

We look forward to working you during the event on March 22nd of 2015!
