Only true if you actually use the band selector to change bands. You can watch this if you're a band-hopper. I'm now entirely satisified with the FT891.
KOOL! I never thought the VFO multi knob gave you so much control....I assumed it would only cover the band. Oh well...we know the derivation of the word assume.
Hi, hello everyone. LU2AOU, I am new here and my name is carlos from Argentina. I was looking something about my new Rig and I discovered this wonderfull site and wonder if anyone can help me and knows about an issue I have with my recently bought Yaesu FT 891. Everytime when I am in VFO with the Squelch OPEN, I press the key B (while this key is assigned with the function "SCP") hear a sound that comes out from the loudspeaker. This does not happens when the key "B" is assigned to other function. As I said it is a sound and not a relay. Well if anyone has an idea, I would appreciate it very much, thanks to all. 73, Carlos
It's 2024 and I just got an 891! My old TS-570D is deaf in comparison and I have switched all the wires and verticals to the lil' mighty Yaesu! Hooked up to my old MFJ-948, it is a deadly combo. OMG...I hear everyone now!! Sorry, Kenwood! My next debate is now between an IC-7300 and an FTDX-10, for the day I learn the menus and send the 891 to the Ford Ranger. But I think this lil' mighty will spend more time in my shack than expected. Thank you all for sharing your expertise. Do know that I'm enjoying it still, many years later!! For a portable/mobile rig ft-891 is very nice and still 100w. For home for sure look for something with better ergonomics and all relatively new rigs will do the job better. I upgraded ic-7300 to ftdx-101d and I can’t tell I like everything more than on that small and quite cheap Icom. There is no perfect radio as many people say, but you can’t probably have them all in your shack. Well will see after some contests.
