It's a tone oscillator, designed to be low distortion sine output, with cal controls for frequency, reference output voltage @ 0 attenuation, & an internal AC volt meter, that is also cal'able, using an external reference AC volt meter, & the attenuation set to 0 reference. You could pick your' own 0 reference, not necessarily 0.775 volt 0 dB. Maybe up to +20-30-40 dB, & use the atten to step down to 0 dB 0.775 volt. I bet you could take a HP VTVM, & mod it, to work like perfectly to this design. I like it!!! But I already have a sound technology 1700b.......... & it's solid state!
