Ham Club Tells Story of an Extraordinary Meteorite
    Documentary Coming Spring 2018

In a remote region of the Mojave Desert a team of amateur radio operators used their teamwork and radio skills to relocate the site where a remarkable meteorite was previously discovered. This was no ordinary meteorite. To date, it’s the second largest meteorite ever to be found in the United States and there are still some mysteries surrounding it.

The Old Woman Meteorite was found in 1976 by two young prospectors searching for gold. At 6070 pounds it was truly an astonishing discovery, even larger than the largest fragment that made the huge crater in Arizona. However, the original story of this remarkable find has been overshadowed by a dark cloud, the legal battle that took place afterwards for its ownership.

The prospectors who discovered the meteorite filed a claim and named it Lucky Nugget. However, neither their claim nor the name would prevail. Perhaps distracted by the legal battle, a number of key questions about the space rock were never addressed publicly, i.e. What was its trajectory? How did it end up where it was found? Where exactly was it found? How did such a large meteorite leave absolutely no impact crater?

After a successful fundraising campaign on Kickstarter the Land Ops Adventure Radio Club KM6HJV has set out to tell this story from a more positive and thought provoking perspective. Using amateur radio as their primary communications and safety net, the club’s operators would like to take you back to the original discovery site. They will attempt to explain some of the missing and unanswered questions that surround this amazing discovery. Hence the title of the documentary; “Mysteries of Lucky Nugget”.

This is a story about the meteorite before it was name Old Woman Meteorite. This is the story about Lucky Nugget and the spirit of discovery. This is a non-profit film brought to you by the Land Ops Adventure Radio Club, KM6HJV.

Isn't the Smithsonian Institution used by the government to hide items, that they rather the public not know about ???

"What was its trajectory? How did it end up where it was found? Where exactly was it found? How did such a large meteorite leave absolutely no impact crater?"

Really, we already have the Oak Island guy and the Confederate Gold guy voice narrating these useless and leading questions.

    Get your own show.

What was its trajectory? Who cares?
How did it end up where it was found? It fell to the ground.
Where exactly was it found? Where it was.
How did such a large meteorite leave absolutely no impact crater? It fell a long time ago. Into mud.

Last I saw, the majority of the Old Woman Meteorite was on public display at the visitors center in Barstow CA. A chunk was sawed off for research and ended up in the Smithsonian or someplace.

[guess] Fell on a glacier during the ice age? Carried by glacier to it's resting place... [/guess]

I wonder how many craters were wiped by the glaciers.

Danged good hypothesis! BUT......... Ice Age maps don't show the ice sheet or any glaciers extending down into the Mojave. However, there is evidence of Mojave lakes during the Pleistocene. Lakes, deep water, meteorite splashdown, sink into mud. Lake dries up. Case closed.

    OR...

It's possible that a heretofore unknown ancient civilization with alien power crystal tractor beam technology could have steered the meteorite away from their Glass City, and it splashed down safely in a nearby lake. Sort of a prehistoric Iron Dome.

    OR.....

Could it be the iron meteorite was deposited here on Earth by a colossal space parasite that was captured and domesticated by Frog People, for use as a source of precious iron necessary for constructing the pillars and trusses that keep the hollow Earth propped up?

    OR....

Could it be the meteorite is the remnant of a large BB randomly shot out into space hundreds of thousands of years ago with a HyperSpace Daisy Lever Action Rail Rifle by a young alien, member of a species of Giants living on Planet X?

    OR....

Could it be the meteorite is a hoax, and actually a lump of painted oatmeal?

It could have also been dragged down by the cataclysmic flood that happened 12,000 years ago. This is the flood that every ancient culture spoke of. The one that wiped all civilization, through us back into the stone age and dug out the Grand Canyon in a single event. The truth is out there... :(

This fragment of iron was what was left of the NamendaXR engine which was used once to take tourists to Prevnar13 as its atmosphere was turning liquid during the AnoroElipta before it disintegrated during the planet's decadal oscillation.
