My mom and I knocked out a morning spring ski sesh on Mt Bachelor (W7O/CM-005). The snow was sloppy, even at 8:30 in the morning, but still fun to get out on the sticks. Mom headed home around lunch time and I stayed to do some Summits on the Air. Even with the summit lift running, it's still a little hike to the summit proper. I operated for just under an hour and got 18 QSOs in the log. I met some other hams on summit and introduced them to Summits on the Air. There was even a wedding on summit! 73 de Tim N7KOM
Tim you keep breaking the barrier, Wow skiing on top of a snow cone, how good is that, and some good CW work, fantastic. 73' OH your video is so good.
You should get some ski’s with a good titanal sheet layer (Stokli Stormriders, any of the Ti models from other brands….), solder on a 239 connector, and tx via the ski!! I just might see if I can conjure something up! The steel edges could be utilized as discone radials!
Nice vid. I would appreciate a note on rig, antenna, battery etc for these minimal station set ups. Looks like a great time - and your Mom rocks!
Transmitter was a qrp rig, Antenna was a Rossignol Soul7 ski with 2 ski pole radials attached to a quad chairlift cable for a ground! The chairs were spaced out in a cw order so as they hit the ground wire they made a dit or dot, two chairs close together made a dit dit….. worked great!
