    David E. Brandiff, Jr., met his Savior peacefully and free of pain on March 30th 2012. His sister and Hospice were by his side.
    He was born May 15, 1947, the son of the late David E. Brandiff, Sr. and the late Pearl Stewart Brandiff. He graduated from Salem High School in 1965, a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, the Salem High School Marching Band and the Ham Radio Club under the handle WB2KTW . He graduated from American University in Washington DC in 1969, with a degree in English and computer systems.
    He worked for General Motors, then DuPont Experimental Station where he accumulated 24 years of service. He was a gas chromatography specialist. During his career he received an award when the lab transitioned from weighing liquid samples manually to a computerized method. He was the first in his department to learn how to weigh liquid samples with the new equipment. He received a monetary award, dinner for four at the Green Room in the Hotel DuPont and was asked to travel to other DuPont locations to teach the method to other employees. David owned a home in Bear, DE, and enjoyed operating his ham station and doing yard work. He held a position in the Buckley Civic Assoc.
    After surgery to remove a lung, he continued to maintain his home and his job. He was a 16 year cancer survivor. He enjoyed classical organ music and the trumpet. He was active in First Baptist Church of Salem for 55 years as a Trustee and Choir member. Upon retirement, he developed an extensive hobby of bird feeding, identification and study of each bird's sounds. He was a member of the Quinton Gun Club. He was active in a Christian Singles Club and volunteered his time through the club's program to help persons who needed a hand up in life. He operated, repaired and rebuilt personal computers, it having become a hobby to stay current on each new advance in this field.
    David was predeceased by his parents listed above. He is survived by a sister, Jeanne D. LeHew of Salem, two nephews, Kevin Glassford (Jesse) and Erich Glassford (Jenni), great nephews, Gavin, Justin and Colin Glassford and great niece, Ella Glassford.
    A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 5th in First Baptist Church of Salem, 130 West Broadway, Salem where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Salem or a cancer program of the donor's choice. Arrangements by WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, Salem.
