I have a QSL card from Seal Island, off of the coast of Africa. It is part of the Penguin Island group. It's from a QSO back in July, 1990. I had a sticky note on it that said "DXCC status pending" that I wrote back in 1990.

The callsign on the card is ZS9AAA/1. ZS9 is listed as Walvis Bay, which is part of Namibia, is close to the Penguin Islands, and is a deleted entity. ZS is South Africa.

So does this count as South Africa, Namibia, or a separate DXCC country? Or nothing special?

After some Google searching, it looks like when it was part of South Africa, it became a separate DXCC entity under the rules (and therefore I get credit for the country!!), and when it became part of Namibia in 1994 it was deleted as a separate entity (now just part of Namibia).

    Am I interpreting that correctly?

Congratulations! You have another "counter" for your total DXCC. I worked ZS1IS from there when it counted.
