    Well...

It is a Bi-Pole. Look at the voltage distribution along the half-wave radiator, at any given time, one end is more positive than the other. Since the difference between Bi-Pole and Di-pole is whether we're speaking Greek or Latin, a bipolar antenna is a dipolar antenna.

W8JI on at least one occasion referred to an end fed half wave as also an "end-fed dipole" ; http://www.w8ji.com/end-fed_1_2_wave_matching_system_end feed.htm

Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II -- William Shakespeare "...What's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet..."

Despite the overall length and inherent resonance point, I refer to feeding in the center two wires of equal lengths as a dipole.

For about 10 years, I used a 141-foot wire dipole, center-fed with 400+ ohm ladder-line on all bands, except on 17M and 160M. It wouldn't load well on those. I plan to rebuild it, and install on another tree branch soon.

    Golly, don't you know anything?

It's "diapole." And feed it with a balum.

    Thank you.

    No, I don't know jack.

    So yeah... it's my bad.

Sorry i'm such an idiot. ...Again.

How did you know that "diapoles" were used for diathermy?
    Will wonders never cease! ;)

I can introduce you to Jack, he's an old friend. All you had to do was ask.

See? That's the other dumb thing I did.

    ...I didn't ask.

    Simple, elegant.
I lengthened mine slightly (140+ feet) to account for wire insulation vf and to make it reasonably match the 400+ ohm ladder line I am using, and to load without issue on the lower bands. Works beautifully.

If I had a Zepp, I'd want to build a Stairway to Heaven with it.

That's one way to be higher than a kite! :)
