I have seen sellers requesting that buyers use Zelle. You should be aware that Zelle does not offer any buyer or fraud protection and scammers are well aware of this. In my opinion, you should only use a payment method that offers you protection or there is a high probability you will be scammed.

Or you are a legitimate seller, that is QRZ "Verified", with a good reputation to maintain, that sells odds and ends often but doesn't want to be scammed by unscrupulous buyers, so you as the seller asks for Zelle payment!

Agree. Verified is important when using non-secure payment forms.

There is truly no secure form of payment, for either side. Any form could be scammed or misused. Zelle is like a postal money order in some ways, or like a wire transfer, or like handing a person cash. These forms are all great if you are dealing with a reputable person, and the equipment is exactly what you expect. Paypal can be scammed by the purchaser, so nothing is perfect. The biggest thing is to know who you are dealing with.

Exactly! Scammers will ALWAYS find some way to scam people. No system exists (including cash in person) that can't be gamed somehow to benefit a crook at the expense of an honest person.

What irritates me is non-verified “Sellers” asking for: PayPal Friends & Family, cashiers checks and money orders. There is absolutely no guarantee that you will see anything from the transaction other than loss of your funds. Buyers have to be calm and make the best decision that protects them from scammers.

If you ever see an ad asking for this, hit report immediately. Asking for Friends & Family is strictly forbidden and the ad will be removed.

The only absolutely safe thing to do is refuse to buy stuff online. Period.

Nothing inherently wrong with cashier's checks, money orders, Zelle, Paypal, cash in hand, whatever - but you will ALWAYS be exposed to some risk and it's entirely up to you, the buyer, to decide if that risk is too great for you.

It's up to the buyer to decide if that risk is acceptable, whatever that risk may be, and there is no method that's perfect for exchanging money with zero risk.

Let's be realistic. The best defense against a problem transaction is adequate due diligence. If you don't know how to do that, don't buy or sell in an on line forum. Zelle is an excellent payment method IF you do your job. IF you don't do your job, it doesn't matter which payment method you use. Sooner or later (usually sooner) you will experience the short sharp end of the stick. It really is that simple.

Important: Just because someone on QRZ is listed as "Verified" does NOT in any way shape or form mean they are not a crook or wouldn't steal from you!!

ALWAYS keep "situational awareness" in the Swap Meet or anywhere else crooked people gather to steal other people's money
