    Youth Contesting Program 2016

To follow up on the first successes in the Youth Contest Program of IARU R1 the new YCP contests of 2016 have been announced

Youth members from IARU R1 member societies are invited to take part in a contest from so called “Top-Gun” stations. These young Ham’s will learn how to operate the contest station, improve their contest skills and will aim for the best results together as a team.

A youngster will probably be coming for the first time to the host country and will get the chance to experience this country and share amateur radio knowledge with local youngsters.

On this page you can read stories from past YCP activities.

Thanks for posting this! I hope people take some time to look through it because it's a fantastic program and some excellent work being done in IARU Region 1. The youth team for the May ARI contest at ES5TV in Estonia will include two members from the ET3AA club station in Ethiopia. This program not only gives youth a chance to contest together from some big stations, but they can also network with others their age, which can lead to other opportunities outside of ham radio. If anyone is interested in helping to support the ET3AA members for this event or other activities at the club station in Addis Ababa, drop me an email. The December issue of CQ Magazine has an article on recent activities at the club station. They're an impressive group!
