    You can do the same thing by simply rotating your left (holding) hand back and forth 90 degrees.

    Reminds me of an old boy GOHFT in my radio club,
    On VHF field day we were packing up & Jim was coiling up the very expensive feedline.

    Horrified at how he was doing it the owner stopped him.

    He came out with the best comment ever,

    " Don't tell me how to coil it, I coiled rope in the navy !! "

    Depends where I am. Clockwise north of the Equator, counter-clockwise south of the equator.
    Some say doing it in a figure eight prevents twists. I stay with a figure four out of simplicity.

    I been doing it wrong all my life. Thanks for posting. 20 years of running cat5 and fiber and I never knew this. This ought to be taught in high schools.
