Any thoughts? Yes, I know you have to plug in the straight key before powering up the radio. During FD, I got the "M" signal only a couple of times. It was balky at first but then I finally got it to send "M," and it worked okay for several hours. When I shut down and came back on later, it would only send the "A," for automatic keying, and nothing I did could convince it to go into straight key mode, which I want when keying from my PC.

It's not especially easy to get to the top of the board inside the radio. Anyone have any ideas? Workarounds?

    Thanks!

Try some contact cleaner on the plug, seat it 3or4 times.
Might just be a dirty contact. The board is easy enough to pull to get to the jack if it needs replacement.
