You are correct. This is my web browsing Win7 machine.

2 GIG has worked fine, Before Web page bloat and ads.
That spike happens when I click on the web page link.

I guess I need to use my gaming computer to play.

I am not going to use a Linux box to look at BS about needing a Windows Patch. Unless I get a flat tire.

To reiterate: find out what process is experiencing the load spike.

Win 7 ? Now look what you've done. You've disappointed Bill Gates. He has a family and mouths to feed, you know...

It is Chrome. That site makes more than one instance start.

It is all of those tracking ads. I hope Victory Secrets has a sale. :)

I do not block ads, I like the ones on QRZ. They do not cause problems.

The web link was click bait. No loss for me. But I had to click just for grins. :D

    2G of RAM.

    Microsoft Windows 7 OS.

    Browser by Google.

    No ad blocking.

    (dramatic pause...)

What could possibly go wrong?

P.S. May I have the Post Office forward all my junk mail to you and may I redirect all my junk email your way? You know...because you don't block advertising? ;)

I found Victory Secrets on Amazon. It's $9.99 on Kindle and $20.00 on paperback. I never heard of the book before, is it any good?

Yeah, Chrome's a major memory hog--especially when you have multiple tabs open with images on their pages.

Try a lean browser, like Opera, and see what happens.

I had no issues with the original link. It loaded up, just like any old web page. The only exception would be that it did recognize my "ad blocker" and politely asked me to white list them. But I said no. I have no white listed sites.

I am using Chrome on a Windows 10, 64 bit, laptop with 8 GB memory. I have two instances of Chrome running with about 35 tabs open, between them. And, I am running Eagle, Cygwin64 and GtxWave for some digital simulations.

The only issue that I have had with the system lately, is that it keeps trying to run "Your Phone" in the background. If you try to uninstall it, from the "Apps & features" GUI, it won't let you. It seems that there are about a dozen MS apps that won't let you uninstall easily. Like MS "Mail and Calendar", "Maps", "Messaging", and a few "Xbox" apps. But I was able to use the MS PowerShell to remove "Your Phone". I'll wait and see if it returns with the next big update.

It's a company struggling to alienate as many of its users as possible. It has recently started moving to an on-line service causing people to buy it at regular intervals. It continues to be as inconsistent as possible which reflects a lot about Microsoft's culture. It forces its users to have to deal with things like Cortana, Edge and 3AM reboots. It panders to a very small minority of users who embrace "enhancements" which are nonsense causing heartache and anxiety on a super majority of its users. The latest editions come loaded with crapware. They try to fool users with advertising called "suggestions." By today's definition of malware, it is a keylogger with a pre-installed virus that allows Microsoft to reach into your computer when ever they want.

Other than that, it's a great OS!

I don't use it for my security camera FTP server, my Samba server, my NTP server, or my streaming radio server.

They are trying to screw up older versions of Windows, So you get fooled into buying a new computer with Win 10.

    That's all Folks...
