I have an ft221 and someone wants to give me parts ft221r. I'm happy to do this if the boards and others parts are interchangeable-otherwise this "gift" needs to go somewhere where it can be used. Limited storage space and too many other projects right now.

Aside from the repeater split it seems they are the same radio. So wouldn't expect every board would be the same but the audio, finals, etc. should identical.

    Early 1980s multi-mode VHF (2-meter) transceiver.
You likely could repair the FT-211R unless it has been abused, stripped of key parts.

FoxTango International has the Yaesu Service Manual(s)

Earl Andrews, VE3AB has FT-221 parts and
noted that bad solder joints and crystal failure apprars to be common issue.

Yaesu FT-221R is model with Repeater Shift.
Yaesu FT-221RD is model with Repeater Shift & Digital Display.
Yaesu YC-221 external digital display works for both FT-221(R) models.

As noted by WA6MHZ, here on QRZ (who has a FT-221) ..
the FT-221R is almost plug-n-play --- while additional work is requured for the FT-221.
