I was looking at possibly replacing my KPA 500 amp with a Yaesu VL-1000.
I was reading the manual on the amp and they say 500 watts continous for 1 hour. I know the amp is easily good for 1000 watts plus out. Since RTTY, in a contest, is a very high duty cycle, would you.....or did you....run the VL-1000 at 1000 watts out in a RTTY contest in the run mode. I am sure it can easily handle 1000 watts in the search and pounce mode, but what about running a frequency?

I never had enough nerve to run mine at more than 500 watts output in a RTTY contest where I was making a "run" ... didn't want to chance a trip to the repair depot.
