I recently became the proud owner of a used VX-150. I like the old school controls. It does have enhanced features that require going to a menu but so far I like almost everything about it. My problem is that it has a beep (like the cuckoo beep when a repeater unkeys) that occurs every time it locks in on a frequency when I'm using memory scan. I've been through the manual and menu multiple times. It may be right in front of me but I can't see it. Anyone know how to turn it off?
    Thanks, Kevin

    Kevin,
In the menu system, 16 is Key Beep and 17 is Edge Beep. You may wish to check those settings and turn off, as needed. Hope this helps, -Doug

Yep, I already tried that Doug. But to no avail. Thanks for trying.

Dat be there your ol' roger beep there, good buddy! 10-4? :D

    Seriously though, if 16 & 17 doesn't work I haven't a clue.

Look in the instuction manual for another term like "Scan Alert"; some radios will beep when their channel scan stops on an active (occupied) channel.
