We're equally impressed with the performance of our test system. And the 400 is a fantastic little radio.

Check out the Digital Speech Decoder software. It decodes D-Star, P25, DMR, NXDN etc all in software.

As for the radio that does it all, check out Connect Systems CS7000, it will do DMR and D-Star, and of course analog.

Did anyone attend the digital forum at Hamvention? There was supposed to be a presentation from a group that has 'reverse engineered' the AMBE vocoder that's used for DSTAR and P25. This should allow for the development of radios that can do more than one digital protocol, including DSTAR, FreeDV, P25, and others. I seriously hope THAT becomes the standard in the future. We need more incompatible digital modes like we need a hole in the head. If we had one radio that would do it all we'd be in good shape, but that is not the Japanese business model. I suspect it will be an American firm with manufacturing in China that actually brings something like an 'all-mode' digital radio to market.
