Hello, KM4LYT here. I own a few Baofeng HTS and mobile radios and have successfully been able to program them using high-end USB cables and CHIRP on my Apple Mac computer. I am starting to get into buying Yaesu radios and my first purchase will be an FT-7900R. I have been reading about the cable and software for it and I am under the impression that the official Yaesu cable does not work with CHIRP. My questions is, does anyone out there use a Mac to program Yaesu radios and how is it done? Thanks in advance! KM4LYT
I have programmed Baofengs and my Yaesu FT-2900R with the Chinese cables and CHIRP no problem with my PC. Never tried it with the Mac. Here is what I found about CHIRP and Macs: http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/MacOS_Tips KM4SXW
Glad I could help! I am working on my Bachelors in Cyber Security and we run into all kinds of weird problems programming on the lab computers, all of the new radios are just computers with a transmitter in them. KM4SXW
