I would love to see a new FT-857D or an FT-897D I'm still enjoying my FT-818nd - still my favorite grab and go rig. excited for the new FTX-1F for an update to my old FT-817/8 -25 year old tech. I really like the shack in the box rigs. lots of fun! No they don't replace a dedicated HF rig or V/UHF outfit. but an all mode V/UHF rig would hit the spot too.

I'm always excited to see Yaesu come out with a new radio. However these appear to be updated copies of some old rigs. But since I'm a huge Yaesu fan I may have to look closer at them. I wish they would drop the price a bit though.

HRO is already listing them at sale prices, but it's still higher priced than their predecessors.

 

Who is doing weak signal FM work? Is that something people were asking for?

 

Not sure if anyone was asking for it, but working a simplex FM signal that's on the fringes can be frustrating. If it improves those fringe signals by a noticeable amount it may have some value.
