I own a Yaesu FT-450at which I’ve owned for 9 years , using CW only.
It’s been an excellent radio, very quiet, but the narrowest filter, 500 hz,
means wasting time in contests. I’ve been reading articles from the past and
2 refer to a “secret menu” , in which someone changed
    Hfswr 1 = 83 set to 150
    Hfswr 2= 83 set to 150
    Hfswr 3= 83 set to 150
These setting are supposed to make the internal ATU tune more efficiently.
I can’t find this menu, does anyone know how to access it ?
I was thinking of upgrading to the FT450D for its narrower cw filter but
there was talk of the fan noise being excessive. That was back in the day,
Has Yaesu corrected this problem ? Would welcome advice.

    Hi Paul,
Can't help with your main question about the secret menu but just to tell you I've had the FT-450D for about 8 years, I run up to 50 watts usually on FT8 and never noticed the fan noise, even when trying to hear weak dx on SSB.
It's the only HF rig I've ever had so I can't compare it with others ...but I'm happy with it!
