I have a Yaesu FT-8500 that is working fine on the UHF side but almost deaf on the VHF side I read on a different forum that is due to " strong signals taking out a FET in the front end. " Anybody can help please Thank you Walid -OD5ZZ
I would take a close look at the ceramic filters in the IF path. If they look like they have "dust" on them, replace them and your problem may go away. The cost of the filters from Yaesu is dirt cheap. I did a repair a while ago on a FT-1900. There are pictures of what the filters look like and the part numbers (for that radio). There's a good chance, the parts are the same but I would take a look at the service manual for the actual part numbers. Most of Yaesu's manuals are out there on the web somewhere.
