Thought I would register but your question "What bands does the FT-817 cover" does not work, do you want it in Mhz, m, comma separated??

A simpler question/answer would be less frustrating.....

Got your PM but also can't reply... You have the board settings to only allow PM's after a certain number of posts but you have the admin options set to approve new members before they can post. And to answer your questions, yes, and yes

tried to get into that and bug (buddipole users group). no success with either.

 

I don't really like the Yahoo Group format. I'm odd that way.

AND, since i can't get into it, either, i'll do my show and lie here-

i ordered this gadget off ebay (ft-817 accessories category) for $5,99 w/free shipping from china.
the ad made it look larger. took 12 days from date of order. disregard date on the photos- i can't get it to tun off.

drawbacks- you have to scoot the radio over a little to clear the so-239; the power cord raises the corner up a tad; there are no teeth on the screws/legs so you have to tighten the screws pretty good.

the radio rests on the knobs, raising it a tad.

is stable. you might put a 90 degree so-239/pl-259 on the rear connector to keep the cable from raising the rear.

there are other doodads out there, w4rt (www.w4rt.com) has a clear plexiglas one (out of stock) for $20, ebay has plastic ones with fixed legs in the $40+ range from china, there're a pair of pivoting legs i saw somewhere.
