Yaesu FT-450D being discontinued

    and i just got a minty one from an SK. its actually a pretty nice entry rig. The auto tuner is amazingly fast. wish my ftdx5k could think that fast to tune. In hind sight, I should have gotten a 450 instead of my ic-718 when i was first licensed.

    Unfortunately the virus kills more than just humans. Also kills jobs, companies, and products.

    I have to wonder if the virus has much to do with it. Yaesu is still turning out plenty of other models. I think the 450D has run it's course and they are probably bringing out new model to replace it.

    I guess it is a decent little rig, I just never warmed up to the dinky tuning knob.

    FTDX1200 also canceled. That was a short lifespan.

    when i got mine i tossed the dinky knob and installed a big solid aluminum knob. spins great. you dont have to live with what they ship...had three, put one on my dx394 too...
    did one on my g90...love big heavy knobs!!

    btw, when you pull the dinky knob with the flange on back you see a recess in the front panel
    that the new ,big ,heavy knob fits in, just like factory. ill have to get a pix, later...
    found...
