I have a FT-65r that is a nice little radio. When operating at home I'd like to use an external microphone. I found some pin-out diagrams that show the needed connections for audio and PTT switching. The transmitter keys as expected, but the audio level is far below what I expect. This is a studio quality LO-Z microphone with an impedance matching transformer. I use this setup with my HF rig with good results. Does the little Yaesu rig require a different level of audio? Do need to add a gain stage to my system to make this work?

    Clues? Advice? Anecdotes?
