Has anyone hooked up this combination?

Sure. You use the ACCessory connector on the rear panel of the Yaesu. Center pin of RCA plug (RLY) on AL-80B connects to Pin #9 of the ACC jack; the ground (shield) of the RCA plug (RLY) on the AL-80B connects to Pin #8 of the ACC jack.

    Takes about a minute.

I'm using the TS-2000 with the AL-80B. I also hooked up the ALC, but haven't quite understood what it does yet. I've hooked up my FT-757GX and it works fine with it too. Great amp for the price. Have fun with it, I am.
