I hate to keep bothering this forum with questions concerning my ongoing efforts on the 2100B but I have nowhere else to go, having googled and checked all available documentation concerning how to replace a burned out pilot light for the operation switch on my 2100B.

I can see that the light is housed in the switch but that is the extent of my information concerning this problem and I am reluctant to start taking this unit apart without a bit more information concerning the how and why of bulb replacement.

Any and all help will be gratefully appreciated,

    73's,

Fox-Tango is the base for Yaesu information, such as Yaesu "FL" amplifiers:
    http://foxtango.org/amplifiers/FL Amplifier Evolution.htm

That pilot light scheme was used by Yaesu-Musen back in 1960s.

The Incadescent Lamps (PL, Pilot Lamp) are PL1 and PL2 : 14 Volts, 30 mA
    Bulb Size? Likely T-1 (3mm)

    Alltronics LP-23 is a T-1 bulb

You can just use an ordinary 12V miniature bayonet bulb as used in cars - any motor accessory shop should have one (all car bulbs are designed to work at 14V)

A diode, a resistor, and a 12V led works just fine and won't burn out again

It's YEARS since I've worked on an FL2100 . . . but I'm pretty sure you can just replace the bulb from underneath (ie you don't have to take the front panel off or anything)

Yes but a bulb plugs straight in and will last another 30 years!

(Must confess I HATE LEDs used in cars for lighting!)

True - but finding the correct size to fit the holder may be a problem - either way it's a quick fix !!

Late reply but might be useful. I've replaced the lamps in my FL-2100B with these Eiko #7646 bulbs. Same specs & size. Tinned the leads and used small shrink tubing. Works FB.
