    Morning all,

i have a unique issue and im casting my line for advice.

i picked up a yaesu 9800R quad band knock off from amazon.
i have a smaller power meter hooked up to monitor output power and i have a meter on the power feeding the radio to watch the voltage and amperage.
the radio is being fed from a 30A dc switching power supply, mounted on a shelf directly under the radio.
    The Problem:
occasionally when transmitting on the higher power settings, the output power looks normal, but the amperage rises quickly.
For the most part it will hover at the 6-8 amp mark during transmission.
every once in a while while transmitting, the output power will remain constant, but all of a sudden the current will spike up to 25A-30A and the power supply will go into an over current shut down.

has anyone experienced this before? am i dealing with some sort of feedback loop with everything being in such close proximity? i had thought maybe my instrumentation was faulty, but i cant ignore the fact the supply shuts down..
