Gary, you did an excellent job on John WD7F Globe King modulation transformer. Thanks for helping him out!
Gary - I have used u alot several years ago when my shop was in NY. Couldnt get in touch w u anymore, and I had a hunch something bad happened. I just recently got back into Ham radio and muddling my way and glad to hear u are still around....though on limited duty.
Jim W5JO has posted to the AM reflector this news: Many of you know that Gary Brown, WZ1M, who owned Transformer Rewinding Service, retired recently and is moving to a warmer climate. He was our best source of transformers at reasonable prices. Well it seems as if his legacy may be continuing. I certainly hope so. http://members.tripod.com/tubes_tubes_tubes/transformerrewindingservice/ This looks like good news!
I sure hope the new guy is up to it as HV is a completely different world to master and then move into modulation transformers and chokes and it becomes more complicated than counting turns. Carl
Agree. I'm hoping Gary will provide training if needed or make himself available for consulting -- the best would have been if they had partnered for a couple years but too late for that it seems. We'll have to see what happens.
this guy looks like he can rewind small transformers, especially audio: http://vintagewindings.com/services/Rewind-Service.html I have heard that EPD in N.C. does rewinds but I don't see any mention of that on their web site. http://www.epd-inc.com/electronic-design-services/electronic-products/
