I walked into the shack last night and my Windows 10+WSJT-X machine has a big red warnings all over it about having on 41MB of free drive space on a 120GB drive. I only have the OS and radio applications on the machine, that's all it is used for.

I discovered that WSJT-X had 65GB of .wav files recorded in the Save folder. Apparently under the "Save" tab on the WSJT-X top menu, the "Save Decoded" option was checked. The machine had been recording everything since last March. No wonder I was out of drive space! For me that was a DOH! moment, I'm usually more careful about these things.

So..a caution to all who use WSJT-X - Unless you want it recording audio of everything, you may want to confirm your setting and the folder where it stores these files.

If your install of WSJT-X is default, the folder to check is here:

On some systems your Appdata folder may be hidden. For the computer-challenged, see the link below for information on how to access the folder.

thanks N5AVF I just deleted 12gig worth of wav files

is there any way of stopping the wav saving, I set save to "nothing"
it was set to save decoded
I hope it still saves the wsjt.log and all.text

ha ha ha, I've never done that,,, except, every time!

that option really should be turned off by default.

watch it when you install the next version... set the save option again ...

Logging and other options are unaffected by this menu option. It only controls the saving of audio received.
