We are advertising the event in the hopes that we can elicit some activity and engage interested attendees to understand and participate in the amateur radio hobby. WPAFW, short for Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, is a three-day event held every October at North Park in Pittsburgh, PA. The event’s primary mission is to raise funds for non-profit institutions that promote the well-being of humans and animals. Secondarily, it also facilitates education and outreach related to anthropomorphic art and literature. For more information visit https://wpafw.org Event Station Operations: Listen for our operators calling CQ on HF for the “WPAFW Radio Event Station.” Calls on VHF/UHF will be made once every 10 minutes when not in use by other local stations. We will be monitoring a local VHF Repeater with Echolink Node during the top half of the hour, and a local UHF repeater with an Echolink node during the bottom half of the hour, each hour. We will be monitoring the General SSB portion of 40, 20, 17, 15 and 12-meter bands, and the Technician SSB portion of the 10-meter band, hour by hour, starting at 10:00am. This is our first year and we’re keeping it simple. We will not have Digital or CW capabilities this year. On the air Schedule: Top half of the hour – VHF Bottom half of the hour – UHF 10:00am – 40 meters 11:00am – 20 meters 12:00pm - 17 meters 01:00pm – 15 meters 02:00pm – 12 meters 03:00pm – 10 meters Frequencies will be updated here in the QRZ Forums! Our Event Radio Station will be going LIVE in just a few days! The other operators and I are excited and looking forward to working your Station with ours. We will be monitoring VHF (2-meters) the W3EXW Repeater, 147.090 Mhz, Offset +0.600 Mhz, PL 88.5, Echolink Node 885999, during the top half of the hour, and UHF (70 cm) W3YJ Repeater, 443.450 Mhz, Offset +, Tone 100.0 Hz CTCSS, Echolink Node 443450, during the bottom half of the hour. We will not be actively soliciting contacts on those frequencies, but we will responding to call outs to our Event Station "WPAFW Event Radio Station" and to regular local amateur radio operators to showcase Repeater operations and using EchoLink as part of our Educational content. Just an update before the event to give interested parties time to get ready. (EchoLink set up can take some time) 73's! Glen Rockhill, KS3IFT
