Wow, Just Decoded Alaska on FT8, 6 Meters

    Just popped up on the screen, KL7DX and then disappeared. My antenna here is a simple 6 Meter Turnstile.

    Last I heard Alaska on 6 meters, was in 2002.

    Nope, I was just informed by the holder of the calls, it was NOT him.

    Possibly a bootlegger.

    They guys on pingjockey think it might be someone in Florida. I suspect someone doesn't know their children are playing with their radio.

    I sometimes see false decodes on 6M, especially if I have "deep decode" set. Because of the way the FT8 encoding works, the false decode can often have very real looking call signs and grid squares. The key is that the signals are always very weak and they only appear once.

    That doesn't look like a false decode. The call and grid are too plausible.

    Well, the owner of the call says it was not him.
