Actually Universal has the TYT TH-UVF1 in stock and on their website. I guess they got "hinky" about the Wouxun and its ability to be easily moved from ham bands.

Are these radios capable of dual receive?

    No, they're only dual watch.

I have purchased four of these Wouxun handhelds and they are the best.
Paid 104.00 each to "radioshop888" got my radios in about ten days. They
program easy and work as well if not better than other radios I have.
These radios are FCC type accepted Part 90 and are perfectly legal on LMR
and amateur radio as well as NTIA controlled systems.
Civil Air Patrol has not approved these radios due to their internal politics. The
CAP approvals are geared for the more expensive the better concept as uncle
    sap is paying the freight.
Wouxun seems to be just as rugged as Yaseu and Icom so far. The radio has
extremely sensitive receiver and immune to intermod problems. I am very happy with my Wouxun and am looking forward to the new updated model and
    the upcoming mobile radio.
Wouxun has service available in U.S. but you are loosing the Wouxun concept.
This is a 104.00 throw away radio. The radio is cheaper to throw away than
send for service unless it is a minor fix that a Ham should be able to handle.
Buy one now if you want one because once the big Ham Radio power sellers
take on the line the price will double and tripple.

They may very well be decent to do business with. "BUT" the "copy" of the download program that they supply, does not offer the proper format to download freq's to and transfer freq's to the radio.
Granted; They have a very respectable price for the Wouxun KG-UVD1P, and very prompt delivery. But the disc is of poor quality.

Regarding the programming application which Wouxun provides, it is true that it is difficult (or impossible) to copy and paste channel info in that application.

To mitigate that difficulty, I've written a Excel application which reads channel info directly from a "TW" file and writes channel info directly to a "TW" file.

You can get a copy of the Excel file in the Yahoo Group "Wouxun_KG-UVD1", in the Files section, in the K7DB folder. The file label is "TwEdit v0.003.xls".

I have used David's spreadsheet and it is great. (Thanks, David) Having the data in Excel also allows it to be pasted into other spreadsheets for manipulation such as printing channel lists. :)

    Most excellent David, K7DB

Now I have to wait for the indicate Yahoo groups acceptance. Thank you very much for the information and the time you took to create the excel application.
