In days gone by, I operated with our disaster relief group after hurricanes. I used my own equipment/antennas because I knew it worked and I knew how to work it. These situations were stressful enough, and I would not want to have to learn how to operate equipment on the spot in that sort of environment.
If you don't bring your own equipment, what will you use? I don't recall any disaster EMCOMM activities where anyone was handing out radios to use; everyone uses their own.
This survey is being used as a study to help Agencies and Non-Profits determine if they should equip their headquarters and field locations with equipment. I already know the answer, but a study is necessary to explain to people who are new, wether they should buy equipment ahead of time or not.
