Why? They are so much fun! All the bands are jam packed. And also you can collect many DXCCs during a World Wide contest But if you don't like contests then don't participate Try to do something else when there is a contest going on. Learn CW or do something fun. Or I can suggest you to use WARC bands. There is never a contest on WARC bands
Enjoy the hobby, the way you like it. But don't say ban contests......

 

I'm far from miserable. I have zero desire to take away a radio function that other people enjoy in a professional manner.

Contests keep our bands active and occupied. You can bet that if the bands aren’t active then we won’t have them much longer…
