I wonder how many of those were "forced" installs, upgrades, or new pre-installed vs "Favorite"?

Right. I hate MS's forcing mfrs to install only the latest OS. I buy only older used machines with Win 7.

Wasn't there a free upgrade offered to 10 a few years back? I think I have an iso image laying around on HD somewhere for that ...

I upgraded my ham only computer to Win 10 because it has a processor that Win 7 does not support. I had some issues with my logging program that completely disappeared when I upgraded to 10. I had an old ISO laying around from a few years ago and used that, but at some point it asked to check for updates during the initial install. If you do that, it won't work, demanding an updated KEY. It worked fine to upgrade as long as I did not have it check for that "update" at the initial upgrade. You can Google this issue and get more info. The point is, if you still have the ISO you CAN upgrade for free if you "do it right."

I think I'll do that then, and get some "flight time" with Win 10.

My computer came with Win 7. Their forced upgrade a couple years ago forced me to upgrade to Linux.

Win 8 forced me to upgrade to OS X. :)

Might be a good time to install new SSD or HD for the Win10 install.
Some nice SSD ~500 GB (tablet-like boot speed) around the $100 price point.
I use Classic Shell with my Windows 10 computers (and SSD for boot drive).

On December 3, 2017 ... after eight years, Classic Shell is no longer being actively developed and it’s source code was released. After two Microsoft Win 10 updates in 2018, Classic Shell still operates, as expected.
